Hello, British GQ.

I am Salma Hayek Pinault.

And today, I am going undercover on the internet.

It's actually me.

[gentle music]

She started so many trends and got no credit.

What is your favorite fashion moment of hers?

The first time I got invited to present at the Oscars,

I was super excited.

I wanted to wear a tiara.

I had a publicist, and a stylist, and an agent.

They begged me not to do it.

I didn't listen to a word they said.

I got a call from Mick Jagger and he just said,

Never seen you before.

Just saw you at the Oscars.

I love your style.

The tiara was genius, the eyeshadow, the simple dress.

And I was like, Yes!

If I had done what everybody else was doing,

I would've never met Mick Jagger.

We all know you love the Mexico national team,

but who is your favorite football team and player?

My favorite team is the French team

because it's the team from the town

that my husband comes from.

And we watch every game.

And now, I watch it with my kids.

So it's a different experience.

My favorite player is Ochoa.

I actually have a dog named after him.

And for me, that's a huge privilege.

People forget how much of a trailblazer

she was for Latin American women in Hollywood.

I wonder how she thinks the industry

has changed over the course of her career?

It's changed immensely.

When I first got to LA and I was trying to go to auditions,

people would laugh at me.

It's like, What do you think you're doing?

Can't even speak English.

It was also extra humiliating

because I was a big star in my country.

And I could've gone back any minute,

but I didn't wanna do telenovelas.

I wanted to do film.

And the film industry in my country was dead.

In my career,

I've seen the industry begin to embrace the Latino culture

and begin to understand

we have a lot of things to say to the world.

Let's see how many Eminem fans we got here.

This is one of my favorite songs in the world.

This is how bad I am.

If I hear the song, I can follow it.

If I am reading the song, it doesn't come to my head.

I just recognize all the lines

that they're already showing me.

Let me try a little bit more.

When were y'all gonna tell me

that Miss Salma Hayek directed Prince's music video

for 'Te Amo Corazon,' huh?

I didn't know it was a secret, but it was a lot of fun.

We were very, very close friends.

He was like my brother.

He always wanted me to direct him in a movie.

I didn't wanna direct him in a movie

because it was hard for me to see him

as a different character other than him,

which of course, now I really regret that.

And he wrote a song about her too.

The [censored].

Maybe I should be saying that, but that's,

I'm just reading, guys.

He wrote a song to my daughter

when she was born, Valentina.

The name of the song is, 'Hey, Valentina.'

When I had my baby, I became obsessed with her.

And he was very proud of me for being a good mother.

He had very high values when it came to that.

But he wrote this song to my daughter

with the idea of telling her who I was

before she came along.

And she listens to it all the time.

What is Salma Hayek's skincare routine?

That woman is in her fifties and looks amazing.

What? I'm 41!

No, I'm just kidding.

My grandmother taught me

never to wash my face in the morning.

It's not disgusting guys.

What happens at night is that your skin produces

all the oils that your skin needs to look youthful.

It regenerates.

So wash your skin really well at night,

but don't wash the hard work of your skin in the morning.

I still can't believe

that you played Frida Kahlo in a movie.

You and her are two of my favorite idols.

What is the most interesting thing you learned about her?

Were there any similarities you didn't expect?

Ooh, it's a loaded question.

I learned so many things about her.

It would be hard to say what's the most interesting one.

But I can tell you what is the most interesting thing

I learned about me through her.

I didn't know I could paint.

I ended up painting a lot of the paintings

that you see in the movie.

And when I was painting, I was actually painting.

Who's asking about me on TikTok?

Salma Hayek can speak four languages.

I wonder what her favorite swear word is in Spanish,

Arabic, Portuguese, and English.

I do speak very badly four languages.

I speak Spanish, English, French, and Italian.

I do understand Portuguese perfectly.

I so wish I could speak Arabic 'cause I am half Lebanese,

but the swear words I know in all of the languages.

What's my favorite swear word in Spanish?

But I cannot say it.

I'm gonna get into trouble.

It's really hard because I love a lot of them.

[Salma swears in foreign language]

[cameraman laughs]

Now, let's check out Instagram.

Does it look like she might be pregnant

for a new action role?

No!

But it looks like she might be preparing for a new action.

I'm dyslexic and I kind of look like I'm pregnant,

but it's just 'cause the harness was doing weird things.

And I had another layer of clothes underneath.

She's giving me Michelle Yeoh vibes.

Would she be the hero or the villain?

None of that!

Let's go to Quora.

How did Salma Hayek manage to dance with a real snake?

Was this her most challenging scene to shoot?

Yes. I have phobia for snakes.

My body just shakes.

I can have a seizure from the phobia.

I had to put myself on a trance to put the snake on me.

And I was praying

that I didn't come out of a trance in the middle of it

because I don't know what would've happened.

At the end of it,

I kind of bonded with the snake because I admire them.

And I think they're super interesting.

So I'm very proud of that accomplishment.

What are the best telenovelas in your opinion and why?

I have not watched a telenovela in a very, very long time.

My mom was an opera singer.

And she thought they were not good quality television.

[laughs] And then I ended up becoming a telenovela star,

which she was not impressed with at all.

But my mother was staying with me for a while

and there was a telenovela about Celia Cruz.

I found myself lingering in her room,

and getting completely hooked into it,

getting in the bed with my mommy.

It was such a lovely thing.

Thanks for watching.
